The Tacoma Rainiers defeated the Idaho Falls Chukars, 3-1, in Pacific action at Premont Grounds, with Tacoma pitcher Amaury Telemaco named player of the game. Telemaco, now 2-0, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 7 hits, while striking out 7, walking 0, and allowing 1 earned run. The Chukars fall to 5-7 and continue their lackluster start in 1998.

Brian Lesher had a big run-scoring double for the Rainiers in the bottom of the fourth inning. With Tacoma leading 1-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a fastball from Rich Hunter and stroked the double to center. It was his 1st double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Rainiers ahead, 2-0.

"I just trusted my stuff," said Telemaco.
