Blue Jays Hammered by Burnitz, Drop Game 6 to Royals
|
The Kansas City Royals and the Toronto Blue Jays will take the World Series to a decisive 7th game. In a must-win situation today, the Royals beat the Blue Jays 6-3 at Royals Stadium to force the series into what will essentially be a one-game playoff. Kansas City designated hitter Jeromy Burnitz was named player of the game in the win after he went 2 for 2 with a home run, a double, and 2 walks. He scored 2 runs.
Reggie L. Sanders, who finished 3rd in the FL in triples with 8 in 1993, aided the Kansas City cause with a run-scoring walk in the bottom of the fifth. For the game, the right fielder drew 1 walk in 4 plate appearances.
"Winning the game is always the first objective," Sanders said.
Game 7 is set to be played tomorrow at Royals Stadium in Kansas City. The scheduled starters for the game are Hipolito Pichardo for Toronto and Kevin Brown for Kansas City.
