Baltimore Trades Avery for Montreal's Nabholz
Monday, December 29th, 1997
The Baltimore Orioles swapped 27-year-old LHP Steve Avery and 24-year-old LF Johnny Damon for 30-year-old LHP Chris Nabholz, 33-year-old minor league 2B Jeff King and 27-year-old minor league C Doug Mirabelli of the Expos after what Montreal officials would only characterize as "difficult" negotiations.

His career stats show that Avery has racked up 104 victories and 80 defeats and has recorded an ERA of 3.34. He also has fanned 1435 batters in 1768.2 innings and allowed 1440 hits.

Nabholz has gone 108-95 with an ERA of 3.85 in his career, piling up 1480 strikeouts in 1771.1 innings pitched.
