Chicago Cubs Ship Hoiles to Charlotte Monday, December 29th, 1997 The players apparently knew they were on the trading block, so it did not surprise one of them when he learned that he had been traded to Chicago. "Got my bags packed already," he said, when reached for comment. The Cubs will receive 32-year-old C Todd Zeile, while 32-year-old C Chris Hoiles will go to the Charlotte Knights. Hoiles has a career .218 average with 630 hits, 102 doubles, 1 triple, 171 home runs, 482 RBIs, and 437 runs scored to date. Zeile's all-time stats include: 954 hits, 180 doubles, 27 triples, 146 home runs and 537 RBIs in 1226 games. He is batting .225 with 20 stolen bases and has scored 502 runs. |
