Toronto Blue Jays Ship Shirley to Charlotte

It's all done except the paperwork. The Toronto Blue Jays and the Charlotte Knights have agreed to a trade that will send 41-year-old LHP Steve Shirley to Charlotte, while 23-year-old RHP Jose RF Santiago will be shipped to Toronto. A top front office executive with the Blue Jays described the trade talks as "quick and easy." "We're glad to get this deal done. We think it's something that helps our ball club and it didn't take too long at all to sort this one out," he said.
In 552 appearances and 658.2 innings, Shirley has saved 202 games. His career record is 50-43 with 482 strikeouts. His ERA stands at 3.17.
