Creams Lose Again, 5-3, to Cubs
|
It was a fun time at Wrigley Field, where the Milwaukee Creams and Chicago Cubs tangled.
Chicago starter Mike Hampton pitched effectively against the Milwaukee Creams at Wrigley Field. The left-hander led his team to a 5-3 win. Hampton, the winner, moves to 7-9. He threw 6.2 innings of 3-hit ball, while fanning 5 and giving up 3 walks. Alberto Reyes was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 17 of 20 save opportunities.
Manny Alexander was 1 for 4 for Chicago. The 27-year old shortstop had a key at-bat in the bottom of the fourth. With one out and runners on 1st and 3rd, he broke a 3-3 tie with a run-scoring single off Todd Van Poppel. It was his 54th hit of the season.
"I liked his command," said Chicago manager Anthony Perez. "Mike was throwing strikes."
Milwaukee is in the throes of a 9-game losing streak.
