Rolen Helps Kansas City Cruise to 21-3 Win
The Kansas City Royals reigned over the Minnesota Twins in damp conditions at Royals Stadium.

Kansas City third baseman Scott Rolen was instrumental in his team's 21-3 win over the Minnesota Twins. Rolen, who is a two-time Gold Glove winner, went 4-6 with 4 runs scored to lead the offensive attack for the Royals. Rick Reed, who went 7 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 3 runs on 9 hits, while walking 0 and striking out 5. His record now stands at 11-3.

Rolen contributed a big hit, a 2-run home run, for Kansas City in the bottom of the first. With his team trailing 1-0, Rolen took a slider from Pedro Astacio and stroked the home run to right. His 4th home run of the season allowed the Royals to leap in front, 2-1.

"I like our mindset right now," said Kansas City manager Daniel Drucker.

The Royals, at 53-34, have now won 7 straight.
