Ericks K's 12 En Route to 1-0 Red Sox Win
Boston Red Sox starter John Ericks was in a groove as he led his team to a win over the Cleveland Spiders, 1-0. Ron Mahay was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 5 of 8 save opportunities. Boston is now riding a 3-game win streak.

Ericks earned the win, going 7 strong innings for Boston. The right-hander allowed just 2 hits, while striking out 12. Cleveland hitters had little success against him.

"The old adage is true," said Ericks. "Good pitching stops good hitting."
