Knights Win at Chicago, 3-1
Tony Saunders was superb against Chicago. The left-hander, who is tied for 9th in the FL in wins with 9, had a fastball that was virtually unhittable at times. The result was a 3-1 Knights victory. Teddy Higuera converted his 3rd save in 5 tries. Charlotte is now 56-31, 3½ games up in the Federal League Central Division.

It could have been a different outcome for Charlotte, had it not been for Jason Giambi, the slugging first baseman . Giambi contributed a solo home run in the top of the sixth inning to put Charlotte up, 3-1.

Giambi told a Charlotte Bulletin reporter that he was "more than satisfied" with the win.
