Multi-HR Game for Gonzalez in 7-3 Win
|
The Toronto Blue Jays topped the Baltimore Orioles by the score of 7-3, with the biggest share of the credit going to shortstop Alex Gonzalez. Gonzalez belted 2 home runs, while scoring 3 times and driving in 2 for the Blue Jays on the day. Eric King was the winning pitcher. Over 6.1 innings, he allowed 3 runs on 7 hits, with no walks and 6 strikeouts. The wins continue to add up for Toronto, with the latest making it 7 in a row.
Toronto used the timely hitting of Bernard Gilkey to seize the win. The right fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Blue Jays on top, 4-3. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"We'll keep playing hard and let the chips fall where they may," said Toronto manager Jose Mata.
