Florida Get 7-0 Win Behind Lefty Alvarez
The first-place Florida Marlins welcomed Cleveland to Joe Robbie Stadium.

The Florida Marlins got a stellar effort from pitcher Wilson Alvarez, helping Florida score a 7-0 win over the visiting Cleveland Spiders. The Marlins have an impressive 61-32 record.

Cleveland could barely put a dent in Alvarez. The left-hander tossed 109 pitches over 6.2 innings for the Marlins, allowing only 2 hits.

"Wilson was pounding the zone," said Florida manager Stephen Ginter.
