Valentin Helps Marlins Run Win Streak to 6
The Florida Marlins stopped the Cleveland Spiders, 5-3, at Joe Robbie Stadium. The Marlins got a big game from John Valentin, who was 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. Florida reliever Billy Wagner picked up the win, upping his record to 5-3. Tommy Greene absorbed the loss. Bryan Harvey notched his 19th save in 23 chances.

In the bottom of the eighth, Valentin had one of his most important at-bats: a 2-run single off Mike Draper that staked the Marlins to a 5-3 lead.

"As well as we've been playing, I think we can play even better," said Florida manager Stephen Ginter.

The first-place Marlins have won 6 in a row.
