Brown Helps Baltimore Edge Detroit
|
Baltimore third baseman Chris Brown had a 3-RBI performance, which helped his team grab a 4-3 win over the Detroit Tigers. The win was Bryan Hickerson's in relief. His record improves to 3-5. Felipe Lira took the loss for Detroit. Heathcliff Slocumb earned his 8th save in 10 chances.
Chito Martinez drove in one run for Baltimore. The 32-year old left fielder had a key at-bat in the bottom of the sixth. With one out and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he broke a 3-3 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Felipe Lira. It was his 3rd RBI of the season.
"You've got to ride the highs and the lows in baseball in order to succeed," Brown told the Baltimore Today. "Right now I'm feeling good, but that don't mean squat for tomorrow."
Even with the win, the Orioles have a dismal 21-73 record.
