Benefiting from an exceptional performance from Sammy Sosa, the New York Mets defeated the Baltimore Orioles, 8-3. Sosa went 2-5 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once for the Mets. Jim Bullinger earned the save, his 1st. The Mets keep rolling, raising their record to 6-3.

With the game tied, 2-2, in the bottom of the third, Sosa had a key at-bat for New York. With a runner on 2nd, Sosa, who finished 2nd in the UL in RBI with 130 in 1995, hit a 2-run home run off Pat Rapp, making the score 4-2, Mets.

"We'll grab a cold one tonight and go after another win tomorrow," Sosa said.
