Orlando Devil Rays starter Alan Benes pitched a strong game against the Cleveland Spiders at Orlando Citrus Bowl, leading the Devil Rays to a 4-3 win. The Spiders fall to 3-7 and continue their uneasy start to the 1998 season.

Kenny Lofton went 1-3 for Orlando. The two-time All-Star had a key at-bat in the bottom of the seventh. With one out and runners on 1st and 3rd, he broke a 3-3 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Carlos Perez. It was his 4th RBI of the season.

"We'll put this win in our pocket and go after the next one," said Lofton.
