Cardinals Win at Cleveland, 8-2
|
The St. Louis Cardinals got a stellar performance from pitcher Scott Erickson, who handcuffed the Cleveland offense en route to a 8-2 win at League Park. Erickson went 7.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 4 hits, walked 2, and struck out 8. His record improves to 5-7. Cleveland's current losing streak has reached 4 games.
Contributing to the St. Louis win was Placido Polanco. In the top of the fourth, the slick-fielding second baseman had a bases-clearing double. That made the score 4-0, the Cardinals in front.
Polanco called the win the result of "everyone being in sync."
