Mets Get Road Win, 5-2
New York rode a good effort from starter Randy Johnson to beat the Washington Senators at RFK Stadium. The final score was 5-2. At 64-43, New York is in third place in the United League East Division.

New York used the bat of Gary Sheffield to get the win. The shortstop hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the first inning to put the Mets ahead, 3-0. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it did its damage.

"We put it together today and came out with the win," Johnson said in postgame remarks. "That's the main thing."
