Mouton Goes Off, But Expos Win
|
The Baltimore Orioles and Montreal Expos cranked it up at Memorial Stadium.
Baltimore left fielder Lyle Mouton had a terrific game, but it still wasn't enough to get his team a win. Mouton went 3-4 with 2 home runs. He drove in 6 runs and scored twice, even as Montreal beat the Orioles, 12-7. Mouton was named the player of the game despite the loss. Bobby Munoz, credited with the win, is now 3-1. He allowed no runs on 2 hits in 4 innings.
Montreal used the timely hitting of Leo Gomez to seize the win. The third baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the sixth inning to put the Expos on top, 8-7. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"It was a solid team effort," said Gomez after the game.
Montreal has now won 3 in a row.
