Royals Solve Twins, 3-2
|
Metrodome was the site of a competitive game between the Minnesota Twins and Kansas City Royals.
In a low-scoring clash between Kansas City and Minnesota, pitcher Justin Thompson was a difference-maker. The left-hander earned player of the game honors for Kansas City in the 3-2 win. Rod Beck, credited with the save, is now 10 for 12 in save opportunities.
Kansas City needed the clutch hitting of Phil Plantier to notch the win. The designated hitter hammered a solo home run in the top of the seventh inning to put the Royals on top, 3-2. For the game, Plantier had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"We squandered some opportunities," said Minnesota manager Darren Fischbach.
Kansas City now has a 3-game win streak.
