Cardinals Win at Charlotte, 3-2
St. Louis Cardinals starter Miguel Batista turned in a top-notch performance against the Charlotte Knights at Comiskey Park. The result was a win for the Cardinals, 3-2. Batista went 8 innings to notch the win. He scattered 5 hits, walked 2, and struck out 7. His record improves to 10-8. Steve Chitren converted his 19th save in 23 tries.

It could have been a different outcome for St. Louis, had it not been for Karim Garcia, the 22-year old right fielder . Garcia contributed a run-scoring double in the top of the sixth inning to put St. Louis up, 3-2.

"Nice to put this one in the win column," said Garcia.

St. Louis is third in the Federal League Central Division with a record of 60-55.
