Senators Come Back Late to Clip Tigers
|
Washington catcher Jason Kendall made his presence felt in the 7-3 Senators triumph over the Detroit Tigers. Kendall was 1 for 2 with a home run, 2 walks, and was hit by a pitch. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. Washington reliever Dan Plesac was the winner. His record is now 1-0. The losing pitcher was Danny Graves. The Senators, now 10-1, have had a terrific start to the season.
Kendall had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the eighth. On a 1-2 fastball from Danny Graves, he banged a grand slam home run to left, giving the Senators a 7-3 lead. It was the 1st home run of the year for Kendall.
"As well as we've been playing, I think we can play even better," said Washington manager Alexander Cumana.
