Mariano Rivera picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 1-0. Mark Wohlers was tagged with the loss. Colorado is now 61-54, while Washington is 73-43.
Colorado left fielder Juan Gonzalez delivered a run-scoring double in the bottom of the tenth. Overall, he went 3 for 5, including 1 home run, 1 single, and 1 double. He scored 1 run and batted in 3.
"I tell our guys all the time, 'Every pitch is the right pitch if you put it in the right place, you believe in it and have conviction,'" Colorado manager Joe Gratefuldad said.
