Victory Pushes Creams Record to 62-57
|
Milwaukee beat Philadelphia at Milwaukee County Stadium, eking out a 5-4 win. The win was due in large part to pitcher Phil Leftwich, who earned player of the game honors. Leftwich went 8 innings to notch the win. He scattered 3 hits, walked 1, and struck out 9. His record improves to 7-7. Steve Bedrosian was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 14 of 14 save opportunities.
In the bottom of the second, Milwaukee catcher Damian Miller had a productive at-bat. With a runner on 3rd and two out, Miller stroked a run-scoring single to center. It made the score 5-0, Milwaukee. For the game, he was 2 for 4 with a double, while adding 2 RBI.
Miller said his wife shared good advice with him before the game. "She said, 'Don't allow this game to make you mad.' When I thought about it, I realized this is just a game. I was able to relax at the plate."
Philadelphia's current losing streak is now 4 games.
