Twins Come Back Late to Clip Devil Rays
Minnesota right fielder Larry Walker was a significant contributor in his team's 3-2 triumph over the Orlando Devil Rays. He went 3-4 with a home run and 2 doubles, while scoring 2 runs for Minnesota. Minnesota reliever Trevor Hoffman was the winner. His record is now 6-4. John Smoltz took the loss. Rob Dibble notched his 9th save in 13 chances.

Brent Gates was 1 for 3 for Minnesota. The 28-year old second baseman had a key at-bat in the bottom of the eighth. With no one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 2-2 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Roberto Hernandez. It was his 49th RBI of the season.

"I felt we were ready to go," said Minnesota manager Darren Fischbach. "Our pregame was pretty good."

Today's win puts Minnesota at 60-61, while Orlando falls to 63-58.
