Spiders Prove Rude Guests, Win 8-4 at Florida
The Florida Marlins got a superb performance from designated hitter Todd Walker, but the Cleveland Spiders still won the game, 8-4. Walker was named the player of the game despite the loss. He went 2 for 3 with a double and 2 walks, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Rocky Coppinger got the win, improving to 1-0. He held the Marlins to 2 earned runs on 4 hits over 5 innings, while striking out 3 and walking 6. Cleveland is in 5th place in the Federal League East Division with a record of 44-80.

Chris Stynes in the top of the second had a productive at-bat. With the bases loaded and the Spiders trailing 2-0, the Cleveland shortstop hit a 2-run single.

"We take it day by day here," said Stynes, "and today was a good one for us."
