Reds Clip Cubs, 4-3
|
Starting pitcher Randy Johnson pitched well enough to help the Cincinnati Reds beat the Chicago Cubs by the score of 4-3. Tim Crabtree, credited with the save, is now 5 for 6 in save opportunities. Cincinnati has now won 4 games in a row.
Cincinnati used the timely hitting of Scott Spiezio to capture the win. The first baseman stroked a 2-run double in the top of the seventh inning to put the Reds on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but he made it count.
After the game, Cincinnati manager John Frey applauded the team's effort. "They busted their tails out there," he said.
