Twins Beat Visiting Phillies, 10-6
|
With left fielder Koji Akiyama leading the charge, the Minnesota Twins defeated the Philadelphia Phillies, 10-6, at Metrodome. Akiyama was 2-4 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2. The Phillies, at 53-76, have lost 4 straight games.
Mark Grudzielanek had a big 2-run single for the Twins in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Minnesota leading 6-5 and the bases loaded, he got a changeup from Marc Wilkins and stroked the single to right. It was his 109th hit of the season, and more importantly, it put the Twins ahead, 8-5.
"We came out aggressive," said Twins manager Darren Fischbach. "We came out swinging the bats."
