Knights, Bonds Pin Bad Loss on Spiders
|
The Charlotte Knights got production from their entire lineup in an easy 13-2 win over the Cleveland Spiders. Player of the game honors went to left fielder Barry Bonds. Bonds, who led the FL in slugging percentage with .595 in 1992, belted 2 home runs, while scoring 4 times and driving in 3. Cleveland, at 44-85, has lost 5 straight.
With Charlotte leading 1-0 in the top of the fifth, Bonds hit a fastball from Matt Beech for a 2-run home run. It was his 36th home run of the season and put the Knights ahead, 3-0.
"We were firing on all cylinders today," said Knights manager Tyler Vuxta.
