Twins Drop Phillies with Late Score
The Minnesota Twins downed the Philadelphia Phillies, 7-6, at Metrodome. The Twins were led by Eddie Perez, who captured player of the game honors. He was 2 for 4 with 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice. The win was Rob Dibble's in relief. His record improves to 6-2. Paul Assenmacher took the loss for Philadelphia. The 4th-place Phillies have lost 5 consecutive games.

Frank Thomas was the walk-off hero for Minnesota. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Twins first baseman hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.

"We'll pop the top on a cold one and get back to work tomorrow," Perez said.
