Plantier Helps Royals Run Win Streak to 3
The Kansas City Royals trumped the Cleveland Spiders, 17-7, at League Park. Kansas City designated hitter Phil Plantier was named player of the game for his performance. He went 3-3 with a double, 2 singles, 2 walks, and was hit by a pitch. He scored 3 times and drove in 2. Cleveland is still trying to get off the schneid, having lost 6 in a row.

It could have been a different outcome for Kansas City, had it not been for Richard Hidalgo, the 1997 Rookie of the Year winner . Hidalgo contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the first inning to put Kansas City up, 1-0.

"The name of the game is scoring runs," Hidalgo said. "We did a good job of that today."
