Loss to Cardinals Extends Philadelphia Losing Streak
St. Louis Cardinals starter Mark Portugal turned in a top-notch performance against the Philadelphia Phillies at Busch Stadium. The result was a win for the Cardinals, 5-2. The Phillies, now 53-78, have lost 6 straight.

Preston Wilson put St. Louis in front, 4-2, when he took Chris Carpenter downtown. His solo home run came with two out in the bottom of the fifth. It was his 26th home run of the season.
