Royals Fall Short, 5-4, at Charlotte
|
The Charlotte Knights scored a 5-4 win versus the Kansas City Royals at Comiskey Park. Charlotte left fielder Barry Bonds nabbed top player honors in the tight contest. Charlotte reliever Curt Brown picked up the win, bumping his record to 1-0. Jeff C D'Amico was collared with the loss. The first-place Knights, at 88-46, now lead their division by 3½ games.
Momentum swung to the Knights in the bottom of the seventh, when Bonds, who is tied for 6th in the FL in extra base hits with 64, hit a 2-run home run. It propelled the Knights into the lead, 5-4.
"We've got a great group of guys," Bonds said, "and we're having fun right now."
