Cyclones Come Back Late to Top Otters
|
The Brooklyn Cyclones began the 1998 season with a convincing 7-6 win over the Milwaukee Otters at Ballpark of Fremont. Most impressive was Brooklyn center fielder Brian Simmons, who was 3 for 5 with a home run and a triple. He scored 3 runs and drove in 2.
Darrin Fletcher came through for Brooklyn with a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the bottom of the sixth. The designated hitter went 2 for 2 for the game, including 1 home run and 1 double. He scored 1 run and collected 4 runs batted in.
"I like the grit of this ballclub," Fletcher said.
