Las Vegas played host to San Diego at the friendly confines of Kingdome.

Las Vegas rode a good effort from starter Rick Aguilera to beat the San Diego Padres at Kingdome. The final score was 3-2. Brady Raggio got the save, the 3rd for him this season.

An important at-bat for the Angels came in the bottom of the eighth, when center fielder Ken Griffey Jr. stroked a solo home run. That made the score 3-1 in favor of Las Vegas. For the day, Griffey Jr. was 1 for 4 with a home run.

In postgame comments to the Las Vegas Today, Griffey Jr. said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."

The Padres fall to 5-10 and continue their lackluster start to the 1998 season.
