Clippers Pull Back to .500 With Win Over Red Wings
|
The Columbus Clippers handed the Rochester Red Wings a loss at Mules Ballpark. The final score was 8-7. Tom Lampkin was named player of the game for Columbus. In addition to his 1 single and 1 home run, he scored 2 runs and drove in 1. He also added 1 walk. The winner was Carlos Pulido, who threw 108 pitches over 8.1 innings. The left-hander was charged with 5 runs on 8 hits. Earning his 4th save of the year was Vladimir Nunez.
Making an impact for the home team was Carter Haney. In the bottom of the sixth, the 24-year old second baseman had a run-scoring sacrifice fly. That made the score 4-3, Clippers.
"It wasn't our best performance," said Haney, "but a win in this league is nothing to sniff at."
The Red Wings, now 6-14, continue their slow start.
