Thrilling Walk-Off Win for Otters
|
The Milwaukee Otters overcame a good performance by Asheville right fielder Yamil Benitez to knock off Asheville, 5-4, at Stags Ballpark. Benitez was 3-4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. The winner was Milwaukee reliever Todd Ritchie, now 2-1. The loser was Everett Stull. The Moonshiners fall to 7-16 and continue their lackluster start to the 1998 season.
Jeffrey Hammonds provided some late-game drama. In the bottom of the ninth, with one out and the bases loaded, Hammonds hit a run-scoring single. It helped Milwaukee take the lead and grab the win.
"This place was rocking at the end," Hammonds said.
