McRae Excels, But Moonshiners Win
Savannah got a terrific game from left fielder Brian McRae. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Asheville, 11-7. McRae was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He was 2 for 3 with a home run and 2 walks, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 3. The Moonshiners, now 8-16, have not found much traction so far in 1998.

Deivi Cruz, who is tied for 9th in the ATL in doubles with 7, chipped in for Asheville with a grand slam home run in the bottom of the fourth. For the game, the shortstop had 2 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 4 runs batted in.

"We put it together today and came out with the win," Cruz said in postgame remarks. "That's the main thing."
