The New York Mets managed to get by the Montreal Expos, 2-1, at Shea Stadium. New York pitcher Jason Isringhausen took player of the game honors. Darren Holmes finished to wrap up his 4th save. New York is now 11-4.

New York left fielder Cliff Floyd helped the Mets to the win. In the bottom of the fifth inning, the former first round draft pick stroked a solo home run. For the game, Floyd went 2 for 4 with 2 home runs.

"You score one run, you're not going to win," said Montreal skipper David Polakoff. "You can have three Koufaxes and three Drysdales, you're still not going to win."
