Beasties Pull Even With 7-6 Victory
Hartford second baseman David Bell had a terrific game, but it still wasn't enough to get his team a win. Bell went 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once, even as Bluff City beat the Whalers, 7-6. Bell was named the player of the game despite the loss. Earning his 10th save for Bluff City was Mike Fyhrie. The Beasties, now 19-19, know that wins in May count the same as wins in September.

Bluff City relied on the hitting of Alex Gonzalez to pick up the win. The shortstop clubbed a 2-run home run in the top of the seventh inning to put the Beasties on top, 7-4. For the game, Gonzalez had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.

"I'm just happy to help the team win," Gonzalez told the Bluff City Herald.
