Cyclones Win Thriller, 7-6
|
The Milwaukee Otters got a sterling performance from pitcher Ben McDonald, but the Cyclones still prevailed, 7-6. McDonald was named the player of the game in a losing cause. He came in in relief and pitched to 17 batters . Brooklyn reliever Jim Mecir picked up the win to move to 2-2. Mike Myers suffered the loss. The 5th-place Cyclones now have a win-loss record of 16-20.
The game was at a stalemate until third baseman Alex Arias came to bat in the bottom of the tenth. Facing Milwaukee pitcher Mike Myers, he hit a 1-1 changeup for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Brooklyn on top, 7-6.
"It's great when the crowd gets into it," Arias said.
