The Beasties had to overcome a fine performance from Brooklyn pitcher Willie Banks to grab a 2-1 win at Ravens Ballpark. Banks allowed 2 earned runs over 8 innings. Nate Minchey earned the win to go to 2-2. He allowed 1 earned run on 5 hits, with 2 walks and 3 strikeouts. The Beasties, now 20-19, know that wins in May count the same as wins in September.

In the bottom of the eighth, Tom Evans had a big solo home run off Willie Banks. With the home run, the Bluff City third baseman put his team in front, 2-1. He went 1-3 with a home run in the contest.
