Thrilling Walk-Off Win for Whalers
The Hartford Whalers bested the Asheville Moonshiners, 12-9, at Wolves Ballpark. Mark DeRosa was named player of the game. He went 4-6 with a double and 3 singles, while scoring 4 times and driving in 2. Hartford reliever Paul Byrd picked up the win, upping his record to 1-2. Jeff Juden absorbed the loss. The second-place Whalers improved to 23-21.

Hartford took a 12-9 lead on Jacob Cruz's 1st home run of the season. The 3-run home run came off Asheville pitcher Jeff Juden in the bottom of the 11th.
