Hidalgo Hits 2 home runs in Royals Win
In a tight contest at Yankee Stadium, the Kansas City Royals edged the Philadelphia Phillies by the score of 5-4. Kansas City left fielder Richard Hidalgo, who blasted 2 home runs, was named the player of the game. Rheal Cormier got the win, improving to 2-1. He pitched 8 innings, giving up 8 hits and 2 runs, while striking out 3 and walking 3. The Phillies fall to 6-11 and continue their lackluster start in 1998.

In the top of the first, Hidalgo had one of his most important at-bats: a 2-run home run off Mark Clark that staked the Royals to a 2-0 lead.
