The Asheville Moonshiners grabbed a 9-4 win over the Brooklyn Cyclones at Torrance Grounds. Asheville first baseman Doug Mientkiewicz went 3-4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once to earn player of the game honors. Matt Beech, who went 5 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with no runs on 6 hits, while walking 1 and striking out 7. His record now stands at 6-3. With Asheville leading 1-0 in the bottom of the second, Mientkiewicz hit a fastball from Matt Perisho for a 3-run home run. It was his 1st home run of the season and put the Moonshiners ahead, 4-0.
