Twins Use Late-Game Magic to Beat Reds
The Minnesota Twins defeated the Cincinnati Reds, 8-6, in Federal League action at Riverfront Stadium. Frank Thomas received player of the game honors. The 9-year veteran was 3-5 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2. The Reds fall to 7-9 and continue their uneven start to the 1998 season.

Minnesota used the clutch hitting of Abraham O Nunez to capture the win. The third baseman drilled a 2-run double in the top of the eighth inning to give the Twins the lead, 7-6. For the game, Nunez had 1 single and 1 double in 4 at-bats.

"We took advantage of our opportunities," Thomas told the Minnesota Daily. "It's as simple as that."
