The Hartford Whalers got a stellar performance from pitcher Robert Person, who handcuffed the Rochester offense en route to a 13-0 win at Ballpark of Ft. Lauderdale. The slumping Red Wings have lost 8 straight.

In the top of the first, Mark DeRosa ambushed a full count fastball from Dale Polley and hit a 2-run home run. It gave Hartford a quick 2-0 lead.

"Sometimes you're the windshield, sometimes you're the bug," said Rochester manager . "Today we were the bug."
