Whalers Win at Asheville, 6-0
The Hartford Whalers got a strong performance from pitcher Chris Holt, who stymied the Asheville offense en route to a 6-0 win at Torrance Grounds. Holt got the win, improving to 6-4. He allowed 8 hits and walked 6 over 8.1 innings. Holt allowed no earned runs. The second-place Whalers have won 8 consecutive games.

The result might have been different for Hartford, had it not been for Todd Dunwoody. The center fielder produced a run-scoring single in the top of the first inning to put the Whalers ahead, 1-0. For the game, Dunwoody had 1 double and 1 single in 4 at-bats.

Holt attributed the win to "energy and focus on the part of everyone."
