Whalers Stun Swamp Foxes, 3-2
|
In a low-scoring tilt between the Hartford Whalers and the Savannah Swamp Foxes, Chris Holt was the difference-maker. The Hartford right-hander earned player of the game honors in the 3-2 win. Holt went 9 innings to notch the win. He scattered 6 hits, walked 3, and struck out 9. His record improves to 7-4. Hartford has now won 13 games in a row.
Torrance, California-born Robert Fick came through in the clutch. In the bottom of the eighth, with runners on 1st and 2nd and the Whalers trailing 2-0, he hit a 3-run home run to right to put Hartford on top.
"We've got a great group of guys," Fick said, "and we're having fun right now."
