Loss to Dairy Daddies Extends Asheville Losing Streak
|
The exploits of center fielder Mike Cameron, who is tied for 2nd in the ATL in stolen bases with 11, helped the Danville Dairy Daddies defeat the Asheville Moonshiners, 7-2. Cameron was 4 for 4 with a home run and 3 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Pete Harnisch got the win, improving to 8-7. He worked 7.2 innings, giving up 2 runs on 8 hits, while striking out 8 and walking 2. The Moonshiners, at 32-54, have lost 12 in a row.
Todd Hollandsworth had a big run-scoring double for the Dairy Daddies in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Danville leading 3-2 and a runner on 1st, he got a fastball from Carl Pavano and stroked the double to center. It was his 9th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Dairy Daddies ahead, 4-2.
"We cashed in when we had the chance," said Danville manager .
