Thrilling Walk-Off Win for Whalers
The Hartford Whalers beat the Rochester Red Wings, 15-14, at Wolves Ballpark. The win was largely due to the efforts of second baseman Luis Sojo, who captured player of the game honors. He went 2-3 with a home run and 2 walks, while scoring 2 times and driving in 7. The last-place Red Wings have dropped 14 straight games.

Robert Fick went 1 for 5 with a walk. He drove in 2 runs for Hartford. The 24-year old catcher had a key at-bat in the bottom of the ninth. With no one out and runners on 1st and 2nd, he broke a 14-14 tie with a run-scoring single off Joe Ausanio. It was his 116th hit of the season.

"We take it day by day here," said Sojo, "and today was a good one for us."
